Where exactly did my ancestor live?

German place names can also be a nightmare. Not only are they often hard to read, but they are also really long. Especially in documents with old German script, this can be very challenging. But they can also cause difficulties in modern script. Here are two particularly nice examples:

  • Heiligenstedtenerkamp (according to Wikipedia the longest German place name in one word)
  • Pfreimd (this place name has only one syllable)

Furthermore, it is possible that a place exists not only once, but several times in Germany:

  • Bad Neustadt
  • Hausen

Here you should check exactly which of the places is meant.
